Due to growth, S.C. Swiderski, LLC. is looking for an experienced Construction Superintendent. The Superintendent’s responsibility is to supervise the field construction of a project and to complete the work on schedule, within budget, adhering and maintaining safety standards and to the quality of workmanship specified. In the performance of this function, it is the Project Superinten-dent’s role to protect and promote S.C. Swiderski, LLC.’s interests in all matters pertaining to the project and property. 

Essential Functions: 

  • Provide leadership, establish and maintain effective and productive working relationships of the on-site staff and promote positive morale 
  • Direct the work loads of supporting staff to include training, mentoring and follow-up 
  • Review and approve weekly time cards 
  • Conduct annual performance reviews of field staff 
  • Coordination of subcontractors, our crew leaders, material deliveries and staff 
  • Excellent understanding of plans and specifications 
  • Conflict management 
  • Ability to problem solve 
  • Adjust project schedule as needed working with the project manager 
  • Full understanding of all building codes and resources to ensure all codes are met 
  • Maintain quality of work completed 
  • Enforce OSHA safety policies 
  • Enforce jobsite cleanliness 
  • Complete the correct paperwork necessary to keep accurate records (inventory, approving invoices as needed, daily logs, safe-ty log, DNR reports, etc.) 
  • Communicate project progress to Project Managers 
  • Participate in monthly Construction Department meetings 
  • Manage a punch list and project closeout to assure timely completion 
  • Provide timely and cordial interaction with supportive work groups such as Accounting, Maintenance, HR, etc. 
  • Other duties as assigned 

Work Environment:

 The majority of this position will be out of a field office at the construction site where the project is monitored and daily decisions are made about construction activities. Due to the aspect of this role, incumbent may be exposed to seasonal weather elements as part of the construction process. Regular travel is a component of this position and at times, a Superintendent will manage multiple projects where frequent travel between sites is required. 

Special Requirements:

 This position requires the ability to work 45 - 55 hours per week Monday – Friday, with occasional hours outside of that range as business necessitates. Incumbent must have good organizational skills, be self-motivated, possess good time management skills and have the ability to communicate with people on all levels. Incumbent will need a vast working knowledge of the construction industry. 

Required Qualifications: 

  • 5 plus years of experience in a construction leadership role 
  • Knowledge of all aspects of the construction process 
  • OSHA 10 certification or the ability to attain within 180 days 
  • Possess the ability to read and understand blueprints 
  • Excellent problem solving skills 
  • Excellent organizational skills 
  • Time management skills 
  • Excellent communications skills with people on all levels 
  • Be flexible and possess the ability to change priorities and direction based on the need of a project 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • 3 plus years of Construction Superintendent experience 
  • Advanced degree in Construction Management 
  • OSHA 30 certification 
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft applications
