S.C. SWIDERSKI SUSTAINABLE MEASURES

At S.C. Swiderski, our team strives to improve with every step forward. As we continue to begin both multifamily and single-family housing projects, it is important that we prioritize efficiency. We do this both in how we build and how we maintain our properties. With efficiency as a constant priority, SCS is proud to announce that seven of our recent properties have been Certified Energy Efficient, with more to come!

SUSTAINABILITY IN OUR APARTMENTS

Here at S.C. Swiderski, we have the responsibility to take extra measures to design and build apartments that are as energy efficient as possible.

Hydronic Baseboard Heating

Hydronic baseboard heating systems use up to 35% less energy than air duct heating systems. The hydronic heating systems we use are powered with natural gas, which releases the least amount of carbon dioxide compared to other fossil fuels, making natural gas the safest and cleanest fuel available.

Energy Star Rated Appliances

Appliances that are Energy Star Rated operate with less energy compared to a standard appliance. Energy Star appliances still perform at the same quality, but save energy and money.

LED Light Fixtures

LED lights operate on about 90% less energy than incandescent and CFL bulbs are roughly 70% more efficient than incandescent bulb. Not only are LED and CFL bulbs more efficient, but also more appealing in modern design!

Landscaping & Surveying

When designing and planning a new property, our team runs the proper surveying and testing to ensure the land does not contain any endangered plants or animals. Landscaping is also designed to include native plants and shelter for wildlife.

Full Blown Insulation in Flooring

By filling floor trusses with insulation, there is less heat loss in multi-level buildings. This also helps reduce sound transfer between neighboring units, keeping your apartment peaceful.

Exceeded Code for Insulation in Attics

Adding additional insulation to attics helps reduce heat transfer from apartments and conserve energy in each apartment building.

Pre-Programmed Thermostats

Pre-programmed thermostats allow heat to be more evenly distributed throughout multiple apartment units. Without pre-programmed thermostats, heat transfer can be upsetting to residents who prefer their home cooler.

Indirect Water Heating

With an indirect water heating system, hot water is created on demand when a hot water faucet is turned on. This method of heating water is more efficient than a tank water boiler due to the furnace running less frequently.

Efficient Water Fixtures

Low-flow water fixtures provide the same utility as non-low-flow fixtures, but operate at a sustainable measure! By converting to low-flow water fixtures, the overall cost of water used by residents is lower, along with our carbon footprints. Efficient low-flow water fixtures include: faucets, shower heads and toilets.

OUR CORPORATE OFFICE

At our corporate office we have recently expanded our sustainability efforts to include building sustainably, as well as operating sustainably! We are continuously educating ourselves and our employees on sustainable measures. Currently our team has increased recycling efforts by increasing use of digital newsletters and paperwork instead of print, as well as an online tenant portal.
