Lauren - Real Estate Marketing Intern
As I sit to write this I reflect on my first day of the job,
From the very first day at S.C. Swiderski everyone welcomed me as a member of the team and expected me to make a genuine contribution. I hit the ground running right off the bat with a long list of Trello tasks and activities. This was not just an internship that you filled coffees and did everyone’s grunt work. My opinions were heard and mattered here. I was constantly astonished by the wide variety of marketing tasks they allowed us to do.
The experience helped me better understand the incredible reach that just one branch can have on a company. I grew my creative skills by having the opportunity to form graphics, video content, flyers, and social media posts. My adventures didn’t solely lye behind the computer screen and a desk, I was able to visit several of our property locations, new land, attend meetings, and observe building sites. One of my favorite opportunities I got to do was arrange a food truck to come out to our location for employees, locals, and near-by businesses to enjoy. I was given the responsibility and trust of doing all of the event planning for this. It was great to support our local community while also bringing something exciting to the workplace.
But the work- meaningful as it was- was only a small part of what made me come to enjoy this internship. Everyone that I met helped me grow both professionally and as a person. I was able to share laughs and stories with coworkers, given a chance to meet people in other departments, and even engage in conversation with the owner of the company. Having a boss and supervisor that see faith in your work abilities, but also cares about you as a person speaks for the company as a whole.
Thank you to everyone for making this internship a possibility, it made my summer fly by. I would highly recommend this internship to any other students looking to expand their knowledge and have hands-on work in the marketing field.
Development
To say that S.C. Swiderski has had a busy spring and summer would be an understatement! 2020 has brought immense challenges to both businesses and individuals. During these uncertain times, we have kept our focus on continuing the company’s growth while also keeping our employees safety at the forefront. The company’s commitment to bringing quality, market rate housing to communities who need it most has not wavered. As of July, the development team has received the most project approvals since its inception, which in turn has provided the Construction Production Team with the most simultaneous projects ever! So far in 2020, S.C. Swiderski is finishing construction on Village Estates in Kronenwetter and Westwood Estates in Wausau, and opened buildings at Plover – Willow Estates II and SCS Marshfield Phase I. Development will be delivering six additional projects to construction to break ground on yet this year: River Trail Estates II (Weston), SCS Eau Claire Phase I, SCS Waupaca, SCS Shawano, two single-family homes in Rhinelander, and one single-family home in Sturgeon Bay!
How do we do all of this, you ask? Behind the scenes our development team has been researching and purchasing land, analyzing the unique demographics of each city, meeting with municipal staff to discuss their processes and needs, contracting with engineering teams for civil work, determining the most suitable building style and unit mix for the area, creating lifelike building renderings, finalizing site plans, and finally bringing the project forth for Municipal approval. A big part of our success is due to our ability to design new building types in-house, including our new on-site leasing office.
2021 promises to be even more ambitious for development with a goal of delivering eight more projects to the Construction Production Team! S.C. Swiderski plans to join or expand their presence in communities such as Hortonville, Oshkosh, Merrill, Stanley, Eau Claire, Wausau, Marathon City, and Eagle River - with Madison, Rice Lake, Wittenberg, Black River Falls, and Spencer in the works for future development.
The company’s objective remains clear: Use integrity, experience, and proven approaches in construction and real estate development to deliver quality housing, while embracing our responsibility to our customers. From the very early research and development stages to the delivery of units to our leasing professionals, our main focus is always on what matters most: our future tenants. When you think of S.C. Swiderski, we want you to think of home!
SCS Marshfield - Grand Opening
Hard work has not stopped at S.C. Swiderski! SCS Marshfield is now open! The sun was shining as we gathered on June 22nd to announce our official opening of SCS Marshfield. This project broke ground in June of 2019 making almost 1 year exactly to the Grand Opening - how exciting! Our construction team does a phenomenal job at maintaining their schedules to ensure that we are able to open buildings in a timely manner. We couldn’t do what we do without our entire team.
We want to give a special thank you to the Marshfield Chamber of Commerce and Mayor Bob McManus for assisting us with this event. Thank you to People’s State Bank for proudly financing this project, we appreciate and value the partnerships that we have.
S.C. Swiderski is proud to continue to provide you with high quality multi-family housing projects in your neighborhood. Phase I is currently leasing at 92%. With this being said, we are thrilled to announce that there will be a phase II of this project. Phase II has started and our construction team is well on their way! The team has named Amber as the Project Manager and Becky as the Project Coordinator for Phase II. The same individuals were on Phase I. We are excited to continue this project and be a valued business in the Marshfield community. If you get the chance, be sure to check out this site at 1906 N. Hume Avenue in Marshfield, WI.
