GUEST BLOG | ALISON | ARCHITECTURAL DESIGNER II
The Design Team at S.C. Swiderski is involved from the conceptual phase of project planning all the way through completion of construction. This talented team is focused on continuous improvement and customer satisfaction. We are excited to have Alison Baxter share a little about what she does at SCS.
I started my career with S.C. Swiderski about 7 months ago. Right when I started it happened to align nicely that my team had just started working on Request for Proposals for 2 local sites. With 23 years of experience in the architectural and residential design fields, I was able to jump in and work with our Development Team to create a brand-new building style called the “Sterling” that was designed for the Riverlife area in Wausau. Once that was submitted, we started working on another Request for Proposal for the town of Schofield and created another new building style called the “Schofield.” Both of those Request for Proposals have been approved and it is great to see our accomplishments come to life so early in my time here.
Since then, I’ve been able to work on site plans for future job sites and have learned more about our current locations and our existing buildings. I am still learning a lot about my position and developing my role here at S.C. Swiderski, but I am excited to be a part of our amazing design team and to continue to learn from them every day.

David Hornung Promoted to Grounds Manager
S.C. Swiderski is proud to have incredible individuals on the team and we work hard to constantly develop new leaders. David Hornung was recently promoted to Grounds Manager. Today, he shares his story and experience here at SCS.
“I started my career at S.C. Swiderski about 3 years ago. Upon being honorably discharged from the US Navy, I returned to Central Wisconsin to pursue my bachelor’s degree at the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point. During my time there, I started working at S.C. Swiderski as a summer grounds laborer. I spent that summer working with some tremendously knowledgeable co-workers - Jake and Joel Erickson. Working alongside them under the direction of Jon Sawicky, I realized that this group of people was an excellent fit for me, and I could see a successful future alongside them.
After completing my degree, I started working full-time on our grounds team. On top of enjoying the core group around me, I was attracted to the idea of working for a family-owned business. I wanted a career where I could surround myself with motivated people working with an impactful company. Throughout my 3 years here, it has been amazing to witness the growth and progress we have made as a team. In my new role as Grounds Manager, I am incredibly excited to maximize our team’s potential, paired with all the excellent businesses we outsource for our snow and lawncare needs. I will ensure that S.C. Swiderski maintains Wisconsin’s high lawn and snow care standards. “David is a great fit for this position because of his knowledge of the position, his vision and his future plans for the grounds department, and his great work ethic” says Jon Sawicky, Facilities Manager for SCS.
As we continue to build remarkable communities throughout the state of Wisconsin, our landscaping designs will work cohesively with the environment to provide our communities with a beautiful aesthetic. As Grounds Manager, I plan to implement and adhere to new maintenance guidelines on our grounds’ assets. I plan to expand our team with the leadership, tools, and attention to detail that makes S.C. Swiderski an industry leader.”
The Great SCS Food Drive 2022
S.C. Swiderski hosted “The Great SCS Food Drive” in November to support different food pantries throughout the state of Wisconsin. S.C. Swiderski employees and tenants of our apartment homes were encouraged to donate food items or make monetary donations.
This year, a total of 2,097 items were collected throughout all our locations. S.C. Swiderski matched that number making it a total of 4,194 items to be donated to various food pantries throughout the state of Wisconsin. That is almost double what we were able to collect last year! Donations will be handed out by SCS team members across the state.
The Great SCS Food Drive was run by our CAS (Community Action Service) committee. This is a volunteer group made up of SCS employees volunteering their time to make these donations possible. Other events this year that our CAS committee participated in were Ghidorzi Green and Clean, Fill a Backpack Fill a Need, Run for the Fallen 5k, and Adopt a Classroom. On December 3rd our CAS committee will also have a float in the Mosinee Christmas Parade!
Thank you to all our employees and tenants for their donations this year! We are happy to be able to make these donations during the holiday season.
