Marketing Internship Experience - Summer 2023

INTERNSHIP EXPERIENCE | ELIZABETH SCHMIDT

As I reflect on my experience as a marketing intern at S.C Swiderski, I am filled with gratitude for the opportunities and lessons this internship has brought into my life. From day one, I was welcomed into a warm and inviting team that encouraged me to explore and leverage my passions. From shadowing construction to property management teams, S.C Swiderski’s commitment to growth and learning has helped me to grow as a young professional as I have expanded my understanding of real estate processes. These experiences have allowed me to delve into various aspects of marketing research, content creation, and website and brand development with a holistic company approach in-mind.

One of the fulfilling aspects of my internship was the chance to contribute to user experience initiatives. Being a company that believes in fostering strong relationships with its customers and communities, I crafted compelling content that resonated with those audiences. Whether it was proposing website or presentation redesigns, designing social media posts, assisting with events, or collaborating with coworkers, I am grateful for the opportunity to work at SCS. I’ve witnessed SCS’s unwavering investment in their communities and employees, their desire for longevity and growth, and their emphasis on uplifting each employee holistically. As I bid farewell to my internship, I leave with a profound sense of accomplishment, knowing that I have grown both professionally and personally during my time at S.C Swiderski. This experience has undoubtedly set the foundation for my career journey ahead, and I will cherish the memories and relationships forged during my time with this growing company.

“I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to mentor Elizabeth during her summer internship in the marketing department. She was a fantastic addition to the team and put so much hard work and dedication into her tasks. While her internship was only a few months, the impact she made on the team and the company will be long lasting. I am excited to see her greatness shine as she continues to pursue her career dreams and well deserved future successes!”
— Shayne Fellenz (Marketing Projects Coordinator)

SCS Holds Alexander Estates Groundbreaking Ceremony in Merrill, WI

The Merrill Area Chamber of Commerce and SC Swiderski hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for a new apartment site called Alexander Estates on August 1st. The event started at 11:30am at 2015 Webster Street in Merrill, WI. This community event was open to the public.

The event featured special guests such as Mayor Steve Hass and other city officials, Clyde Nelson of the Merrill Area Chamber of Commerce along with other members of the Chamber, team members from REI Engineering, County Land and Title, North Shore Bank, and Woody the Woodchuck from the Wausau Woodchucks Baseball team. Following the ceremony, guests were invited to enjoy some treats tailored to the community. Helene’s Apple Orchard provided donuts, and Ana Blair’s coffee truck had specialized beverages that tie to the Alexander Estates project.

The Alexander Estates site plans for 9 multi-family buildings and 3 different building styles that feature 68 market rate apartment homes with 8 different floor plans. Each apartment home has a private entrance, an attached or detached garage, private laundry, and patio or balcony. All apartments include heat, water, sewer, cable, Wi-Fi, trash, lawn care and snow removal in the rent rates. The apartment homes are pet friendly for cats and dogs and feature green space throughout the site. Alexander Estates is in a convenient location and easily accessible to the community. The apartments also have on-site management who is ready to respond to the needs of the tenants.

SCS is excited to grow in the Merrill community, adding Alexander Estates to our 3 existing communities – SCS Merrill, SCS Fox Point and Northside Estates. We recgonize the housing need in the Merrill community and will continue to provide a variety of maintenance-free housing options at a wide range of price points. “I appreciate the support of the City of Merrill in bringing this housing project to their community. We have several successful locations in Merrill, and we are excited to be building here again. Alexander Estates will add additional one level living options needed in the area” says Jacqui McElroy, Director of Business Development for SCS.

We will work with local subcontractors, tradespeople, and laborers on this project as well as utilizing local suppliers and lenders whenever possible and promises to continue to be an active member of the Merrill community for the long-term.

All SCS projects are designed, built, owned, and managed by SCS. We have several other multi-family projects in construction and will be breaking ground on additional projects this year.

JOIN OUR 3RD ANNUAL SCS FOOD DRIVE

In a world that sometimes seems to be moving too fast, there are still companies that pause to reflect on their responsibility to society. SCS understands the value of giving back to the community and making a meaningful impact on the lives of those in need. One such heartwarming initiative is the annual company food drive, where employees and tenants unite to fight hunger and nourish the less fortunate.

The food drive initiative brings together employees and tenants from all over Wisconsin and is a reminder of the impact a simple act of kindness can have on someone's life.

During the food drive, designated collection boxes are set up at all of our communities across the state including our corporate office in Mosinee. Employees and tenants are encouraged to contribute non-perishable food items, such as canned goods, pasta, rice, and other essentials. Monetary donations are also welcome, and the company matches the amount raised by its employees, doubling the impact of their generous contributions.

The SCS food drive not only addresses the pressing issue of hunger but also strengthens the sense of community within the organization. The initiative fosters camaraderie and teamwork among employees, as they work together for a shared cause. It provides an opportunity for colleagues who may not usually interact to come together, share stories, and understand each other beyond their work-related roles.

Additionally, the food drive sparks conversations about food insecurity and poverty, raising awareness about the challenges faced by many families in our community. It serves as a reminder that behind the office doors lie communities that need support and compassion.

The SCS food drive organized by our CAS committee, is a shining example of how businesses can leverage their resources to address critical social issues. By fostering a sense of community, partnering with local charities, and inspiring others to join the cause, this initiative has a far-reaching impact that goes beyond just filling empty stomachs. It nourishes the soul of the organization and the community it serves, proving that collective action can make a significant difference in the lives of those less fortunate.

As we look to the future, may this heartwarming company food drive serve as a reminder that we all have the power to make a positive impact in our communities, and together, we can create a brighter and more compassionate world for everyone.

The SCS Food Drive is also open to the public and going on through the end of July! Feel free to drop off any donations to any of our apartment communities or at our corporate office during business hours. We also accept monetary donations through VENMO. All donations will be matched by the company.
