Real Estate Development Internship Experience - Summer 2023

INTERNSHIP EXPERIENCE | STEVIE SAMUELS

As I continue to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Architecture degree at the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities, I will take and apply all the experiences and connections I have gained this summer through my position as SC Swiderski’s Real Estate Development Intern. The SC Swiderski team is such a strong, passionate, and intelligent group of people that I was honored to be a part of this summer. From my first day through my last, everyone was so welcoming and supportive of me, my goals, and my personal growth. I felt truly valued as a member and contributor of the team here at SCS, and I am excited for the future of this growing company.

This internship opportunity allowed me to foster my passion for architecture, residential design, construction, and urban development. Through the diverse set of tasks and projects I worked on, I am leaving feeling accomplished and prepared to continue on my educational and professional paths. Experience is the best teacher, and working within the SCS Development Team has taught and exposed me to projects, information, and relationships that school never would. My time here consisted of site visits, site and event planning, research, project submissions, building design, and proposal presentations, just to name a few.

I want to close by giving a huge thank you to SC Swiderski for providing me with this opportunity and making it so special. I will cherish the connections, knowledge, and experience I have gained this summer, as I complete school and continue my occupational journey.”

It has been a great pleasure to mentor Stevie over the course of this summer. From her talent to her intelligence, she has brought forth a lot of new ideas and perspectives to the team. She put in a great amount of hard work and passion with everything she contributed to. From assisting with research, development, events, and design she has made a long lasting impact on SCS. I wish her the best of luck with her career and future endeavors!

Marketing Internship Experience - Summer 2023

BLOG BY AN INTERN | KY SCHREINER

Hello reader, my name is Ky Schreiner and I got to work as a marketing intern over this past summer. Before I dive into what I did over the summer, I would like to thank the Marketing team for welcoming me into their lives (and office space) and being so kind, warm, and welcoming as I was settling in the first week or so. They’ve helped me grow and we had fun along the way.

Some things that I helped with over the summer were pictures of SCS Eau Claire, create some flyers and postcards for the storage units in Black River Falls, attending a groundbreaking, helping with things for open houses, and helping with a grand opening.  I also got to make an informational slide show on how Art/Art Therapy, Consumer Science, and Marketing all correspond and how Art and Consumer Sciences work with Marketing, and what we can do to include the art community in our apartments.

My time here at SCS may have been short, but the knowledge and wisdom I gained, and the friends I made along the way will be hard to forget. I greatly appreciate each individual that I interacted with and worked with. A special thank you to Rebekka and Megan, as they let me share an office space with them during my time here.
